Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between implant retained dentures and All on 4?
Implant retained dentures are removable and snap onto 2-4 implants. All on 4 uses 4 implants to support fixed (non-removable) teeth. Implant retained dentures are more affordable ($8,000-$15,000 vs $15,000-$25,000) but All on 4 offers more stability.
How many implants do I need for implant retained dentures?
Typically 2-4 implants per arch. Lower arch usually needs 2-3 implants, upper arch needs 3-4 implants for adequate stability.
Can I sleep with implant retained dentures?
We recommend removing them at night to give your gums a rest, just like traditional dentures. However, some patients prefer to sleep with them in, which is usually fine if they fit well.

Complete Guide

Everything you need to know about implant retained dentures at Oak Park Denture Clinic Melbourne.

Our Services Implant Retained Dentures

Not every patient copes well with conventional dentures (especially lowers).

For those that don’t, implant retained dentures can be a life changing experience and over the years have become much more affordable.

The lower jaw has little suction due to the tongue poking through the middle. This allows the muscles of facial expression  etc to dislodge the denture. Practice and control usually solve this issue but occasionally something more may be required. This is where implants can be used as an anchor. Implant retained dentures aren't for everyone so when a patient considers them, I would first refer to a specialist in the field of placing the implants to investigate your suitability and help to consider the way forward.

Often only two implants are required and the denture remains removable for ease of maintenance. Comprehensive Dental Care
